About us
Save the Children is the world’s independent children’s charity. We reach millions of the poorest children, globally as well as here in the UK.
Through integrated lobbying, policy and research and campaigning our Advocacy and Policy Division are coherent, focused and agile in their ability to respond to and shape agendas.
Central to this the education advocacy team improves children’s access to, and completion of, inclusive quality basic education. We have a specific focus on education in crisis, as one of Save the Children UK’s breakthroughs for children to achieve by 2017.
We are also working to ensure that education is part of every large-scale emergency response through a new Education in Emergencies breakthrough project.
About the role
The Head of Education Policy and Advocacy will lead Save the Children’s policy and advocacy on education in the UK and globally providing clear strategic direction, in a way that builds our influence, credibility and profile, and links to our programme knowledge and experience.
Key accountabilities will include:
*Strengthening Save the Children’s leadership on education policy and advocacy across the organisation and with innovative partners
*Actively representing Save the Children, in particular with the UK government, EU, UNESCO and World Bank.
*Developing new, influential policy research, analysis, reports and briefings on education
*Leading a high performing team, providing direction and opportunities
*Playing a key role as a member of our corporate Senior Leadership Team
About you
We see you bringing to the role significant policy and/or advocacy experience in education, with the strategic thinking and planning skills to achieve results and the ability to spot / utilise opportunities to achieve change.
