Action on gun violence is recruiting for one of the most interesting works in human rights work.
We are looking for someone to lead our team of weapons as part of our policy and investigations unit.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in understanding how weapons play their role in armed violence around the world. They experience a particular element of weapons-whether knowledge of illegal weapons use, an understanding of how the arms trade works or an expertise in arms control. And have a passion in this area-eager to make their voices heard and their actions in felt.
We are looking for someone who is creative, dedicated, passionate and intuitive on issues relating to the reduction of the impact weapons have life around the world.
You will be able to run social campaigns as an ad exec, writing as a poet, as a diplomat and as an academic research. You must be willing to travel at short notice to places in the world where your mother wouldn't go.
You must be able to speak with eloquence cluster munitions use impact on children. You have to be able to involve religious leaders on how to discourage their flock from resorting to violence to resolve political ends. You must be able to create policy initiatives that are meaningful and impactful. Ideally you will be able to speak a language. Ideally is a genius at using social media. Ideally you will have a media contact book bursting at the seams. Ideally you will have experience in campaigns, make films, promotion of events and get things done.
The background must not be from the world of charity or lobby. Ex-military, ex-journalists, former diplomats are all welcome. Time to handle other desirable.
Just be original, interesting, engaged and transparencies. And reduce the impact of armed violence, of course.
Salary: £ 18,400 for 6 months (this includes London weighting). Depending on constant funding, there is a strong possibility that this appointment becomes a longer-term role within the Organization over the first 6 months.
